 Our Story

Gutu District—named from the legendary "Chinomukutu wemiseve" (the one with a load of arrows)—is Zimbabwe's third-largest district, spanning 41 wards across 715,945 hectares of diverse landscape. From the bustling commercial center of Mpandawana to the quiet communal lands where traditional agriculture sustains families, Gutu is home to over 200,000 resilient residents who navigate daily challenges with remarkable ingenuity.

Yet for too long, Gutu's stories remained untold beyond local boundaries. National media focused on Harare and Bulawayo, while international coverage reduced rural Zimbabwe to famine statistics. Xgutu was created to change this narrative—to provide a platform where Gutu's complexities, achievements, and aspirations receive the nuanced coverage they deserve.
