Urgent appeal for financial assistance regarding Makanzwei Muzondo, a 40-year-old resident of Hwiru, Gutu, Zimbabwe

I am writing to share an urgent appeal for financial assistance regarding Makanzwei Muzondo, a 40-year-old resident of Hwiru, Gutu, Zimbabwe, who is in desperate need of life-changing medical intervention.

Makanzwei's eyesight began to deteriorate in October 2024 following an initial diagnosis of glaucoma. Since then, her condition has worsened significantly, particularly affecting her left eye. Currently, she relies heavily on spectacles and loses her sight completely after 5:00 PM each day. This disability has stripped her of her independence; she is unable to work, struggles with basic daily tasks like cooking or dressing herself, and is now entirely dependent on her family for care. This situation has placed an immense emotional and financial strain on her and her loved ones.

Medical professionals have confirmed that Makanzwei requires cataract surgery to regain her vision. The procedure is scheduled to take place at the Pretoria Eye Institute in South Africa. To make this possible, we are seeking to raise a total of US$2,670. This goal covers the surgery (US$2,500), necessary medication (US$70), and transport costs (US$100).
